Resort Living in a Pandemic and finding laughter

Resort-Living-284.jpg

“Every time you are able to find some humor in a difficult situation, you win.”

Imagine going to a resort that is always packed with thousands of people, and filled with music, laughter, games, staff. All the features that go along with a resort located in the Caribbean. This is why most people go on vacation, right?

Now imagine complete silence.

The music turned off. The hotels closed. The laughter turned into a sigh. Staff sent home (except skeleton staff to maintain the property). Coverings over everything. Restaurants where we can do backflips.

This was our experience. It was devastating at so many levels. Millions lost per month, economic upheaval to the country, and so on, and so on.

What to do…Take your husband, who is continuously pouring over numbers, and take some pictures so you can show off your fabulous dress! No?

I, like many others, had very few options or places to go during this pandemic. Instead of getting caught up with baking (this year was stressful enough and COVID-19 was a pandemic enough. My baking should not add to the problem LOL), or wearing elastic-waist clothing (AKA leisure wear), I literally got dressed up almost every day. Dress for the mood you want to have, not for the mood you are in, right?

Yes, many times, it was extreme. But as we are living in a resort, the only living being seeing me were the iguanas and, if it was an exciting day, the roaming helicopters would take a sneak peek.

This silk dress is so simple but so pretty, and you already know my favorite part. You don't feel restricted and can jump in line for that all you can eat buffet. But maybe wait until after the pandemic to indulge in a buffet.

If you had asked me in February when the resort was at capacity if I would be able to take pictures uninterrupted in one of the busiest restaurants, laughing as if we were not in the middle of a pandemic, I would say hellllls no! However, one of the things this pandemic has taught me/us is never say never, and always find laughter in the most challenging situations.
