Our New Home | St. Martin, The Friendly Island.

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”

Jamaica. Mexico. St. Lucia. Dominican Republic. Curacao. St. Martin | French West Indies

One island. Two countries.

It has been almost one month since we moved from Curacao to St. Martin. Apart from the extremely hilly roads, and the sadness of leaving such a beautiful and familiar place like Curacao, I am already in love.

How amazing to say I live on one island, but one moment I am in having breakfast in France, and the next I am in Holland!

The island completely operates as two separate countries. The electricity, currency, phone numbers, laws, and so much more are completely different. The French side of St. Martin is literally living in France.

Another cool factor? We are minutes away by boat or plane to other spectacular, luxurious, and highly-sought after islands like Saint Barths. Angullia, Saba, & Statia. I am so excited to be able to show you all of these places as soon as it’s safe to do so. Note, these islands currently have less than 200 Covid-19 cases, including St. Martin.

St. Martin is captivating me every single day in such a short period of time. The people, the beaches, the FOOD! The food. The food. For such a small island, in one area, there are over 36 restaurants, and they are all places that will have you speaking in tongues!

We have just arrived, so you know there will be much more to come. I can tell you that this island has me asking a lot of questions. A lot. The hundreds upon hundreds of luxury yachts are awe-inspiring. However, some of the hurricane-stricken homes that are still laying as if the storm just passed a few minutes ago are very sad.

Hurricane Herma devastated the island just three years ago.

I promise I will show you all of this tiny, but also massive island. With over 80 different nationalities living together, it sets an example for peaceful coexistence.

Until our next travel adventure. Let me know your thoughts.

What questions do you have? What do you want me to find out about this beautiful destination?
